Gender Pay Equity and Inclusive Employment Practices at DMU

The comparative analysis of average annual faculty and administrative salaries by gender highlights Dubai Medical University’s commitment to fair employment, equal pay, and inclusive growth, in line with SDG 8.5 – “Achieve equal pay for work of equal value.” Across both academic and administrative hierarchies from Teaching Assistants and Clinical Instructors to Professors, and from Administrative Assistants to Directors.

Current analyses indicate that male-to-female pay ratios generally range from 0.9:1 to 1.2:1 across most academic and administrative roles. These variations correspond primarily to rank and years of experience rather than inequitable pay practices. The University continues to review these ratios annually to ensure alignment with its equity and inclusion objectives.

🔗  Career Guidance Day February 2024

Dubai Pharmacy College for Girls organized a full-day Career Guidance Day for 4th-year students and interested alumni. to strengthen student employability and align academic preparation with industry expectations. The program featured interactive sessions on career planning, CV development, interview skills, and licensing requirements, alongside discussions on emerging trends in the UAE’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. Major employers — including Aster Pharmacy, Life Pharmacy, and Supercare Pharmacy — participated to provide insights on recruitment and professional growth. The event exemplified DMU’s commitment to bridging education with employment, nurturing career-ready graduates who contribute to the nation’s evolving health economy.


🤝 Industry Collaboration and Global Exposure

DMU strengthened its international outlook through a series of strategic collaborations in late 2024 that enriched both academic and experiential learning.

On 5 December 2024, representatives from King’s College London (KCL) and the Middle East Academy for Professional Pharmacy (MEAPP) visited Dubai Pharmacy College for Girls to explore exchange programs, joint training modules, and research partnerships. The discussions focused on aligning academic standards with global pharmacy practices and creating pathways for collaborative learning that enhance the employability and global competency of DMU graduates.

🔗 Dubai Medical University Discusses Joint Programs with King’s College London and MEAPP

 

On 20 December 2024, a delegation of faculty members and final-year students visited the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi Pharmacy Department. The visit provided participants with first-hand exposure to advanced hospital-pharmacy operations, clinical governance frameworks, and patient-care protocols. The interaction helped students understand the transition from academic training to real-world clinical environments, reinforcing quality and safety in pharmaceutical practice.

On 11 January 2024, DMU (via its pharmacy college) hosted a virtual workshop in collaboration with Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) aimed at senior students and fresh graduates. The session addressed licensing procedures, updated regulations, and the path toward professional registration in the UAE.

On 4 July 2024, DMU’s College of Pharmacy signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Abbott to create structured career pathways for students and graduates, particularly in regulatory affairs and quality assurance within the UAE pharmaceutical sector.
