Dubai Medical University (DMU) is committed to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. The university advances the goals of SDG 4 through public engagement, educational outreach, professional development programs, and community health awareness initiatives.

A total of 121 graduates have successfully earned Bachelor’s and Master’s qualifications that entitle them to teach at the primary school level, thereby contributing to the development of a well-qualified and competent teaching workforce.
Public Educational Events
DMU has regularly hosted events open to the public, promoting health education and awareness.
· World Influenza Day: Fighting Flu Together
On World Influenza Day, Dubai Medical College for Girls (DMCG) collaborated with Dubai Pharmacy College for Girls (DPCG), the College of Nursing, and Emirates Health Services (EHS) to host an impactful event aimed at raising awareness about influenza and the critical importance of vaccination.The event featured an engaging educational stall that provided valuable information about the influenza virus, proper hand hygiene, and post-vaccine care. Additionally, a free vaccination drive was organized by the EHS team, offering vaccines to the DMU community, including students, staff, faculty, and even friends and family.
We were honored to have Dr. Radwa Saad Al Tokhy, Public Health Physician and Public Health Education and Promotion Coordinator at EHS, as our keynote speaker. Dr. Radwa shared the latest research, effective preventive measures, and strategies to combat flu outbreaks, making the session both enlightening and practical.The event brought together students, faculty, healthcare professionals, and the wider community, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in promoting global health initiatives. It was a day filled with learning, connection, and proactive steps toward a healthier future.

· Thyroid Awareness Event at Amity University
The DMCG Community Engagement Unit hosted an informative Thyroid Awareness Event at Amity University, Dubai. The event was filled with engaging activities like skits, speeches, and exciting game stalls. The CEU and students at Dubai Medical College came together to educate and inspire the youth on thyroid health. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped raise awareness during this eventful occasion. Together, we made a meaningful impact!
Special thanks to Dr. Sarah Alam, Specialist Endocrinologist at Canadian Specialist Hospital, for joining us and raising awareness on thyroid health during World Thyroid Day.

· Become a Pharmacist for One Day
Dubai Pharmacy College Welcomes Sonaa Al Ghad School for “Become a Pharmacist for One Day” Experience
On October 31, 2024, Dubai Pharmacy College for Girls had the pleasure of hosting students from Sonaa Al Ghad School in a unique “Become a Pharmacist for One Day” experience. The event introduced students to the pharmacy profession through interactive sessions and practical activities.
The day began with a welcoming speech by the Dean, Prof. Sherief Khalifa followed by hands-on sessions in our Pharmaceutics Lab and Simulation Lab, where students engaged in learning practical skills and participated in hands-on patient care exercises. The event concluded with a campus tour, allowing students to explore our facilities and get a glimpse into the life of a pharmacy student at our college.
We were delighted to see the students’ enthusiasm and curiosity, and we hope this experience has inspired them to consider a future in pharmacy. Dubai Pharmacy College for Girls is committed to advancing the Pharmacy Profession and supporting young talents in their educational journey.

DMU has conduct outreach in local schools, hospitals, and communities promoting health awareness and preventive education.
· Breast Cancer Awareness Lecture at the Arab Unity School
In a world where knowledge is power, educational institutions play a vital role in nurturing young minds. On October 30, 2023, the Arab Unity School took a significant step towards promoting health awareness by hosting an event focused on breast cancer education along with the Community Engagement Unit of Dubai Medical College for Girls.Dr. Hiba Faiz, delivered an informative presentation titled "Introduction to Breast Cancer." The session was made engaging through the use of a comprehensive video demonstration, ensuring that young minds were well-versed in the subject. Her audience consisted of students from grades 7 and 8.Following this Dr. Ruth Cockerill took the stage to address the older students in grades 9, 10, and 11 on the topic "Understanding Breast Health and Early Detection of Breast Cancer”. She covered the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and conducted a practical breast self-examination on a mannequin.
DMCG CEU extend their sincere gratitude to the Arab Unity School for providing us with a platform for such an essential discussion.The unit would also want to express our appreciation to Dr. Hiba Faiz and Dr. Ruth Cockerill, for their invaluable contributions. Special thanks to Dr. Rawan Ahmed for her exceptional assistance and meticulous arrangements that made this breast cancer awareness lecture an undeniable success.

· Infection Control Awareness Campaign at Rashid Hospital
Shoutout to our amazing final-year medical students for their dedication and passion in collaborating with Rashid Hospital’s Infection Control team! They played an instrumental role in volunteering for the Infection Control Awareness Campaign. From educating patients to training healthcare staff, these future doctors are raising the bar in promoting the importance of hand hygiene to prevent the spread of infections.

· Substances Abuse Awareness Talk at Arab Unity School
The substance abuse awareness talk at Arab Unity School on 31/10/2024 focused on educating students about the harmful effects of substance misuse and encouraging responsible decision-making. The session effectively raised awareness, providing students with valuable knowledge to identify potential risks and make healthier choices.This initiative aimed to empower students to lead a drug-free lifestyle, ultimately contributing to a safer and more supportive school community. The outcome was a positive shift in student perspectives, fostering a culture of awareness and resilience against substance abuse within the school environment

· World Pneumonia Day
Our Community Engagement Unit proudly marked World Pneumonia Day at Dubai Modern Education School, creating a day filled with both learning and fun. The event featured an engaging talk delivered by final-year medical students: Ameera Majed, Fathima Hana Naushad, Shameema Alam, Zainaba Suaad, and Ifrah Ayesha. They raised awareness about pneumonia, focusing on ways to prevent the disease and maintain better lung health. The talk was followed by an interactive game session, designed to debunk common myths and misconceptions about pneumonia, making the learning experience enjoyable and memorable for students.
This initiative highlights our commitment to spreading knowledge and promoting preventive healthcare practices in the community. We look forward to continuing our efforts to educate the community on important health topics and encourage proactive and preventative approaches to wellness.

· Empowering Pink - DMCG Volunteers at Pink Caravan Initiative
The Pink Caravan initiative is a well-known breast cancer awareness and early detection campaign in the United Arab Emirates. The DMCG Volunteers, comprised of students from different batches, played a vital role in making this event a resounding success. Their unwavering commitment and enthusiasm demonstrated the power of community involvement in spreading crucial health awareness messages. Over 12 plus students volunteered on both Friday and Saturday, under the supervision of our faculty ; Dr.Nujood, Dr.Rawda and Dr.Rawan.

The event took place over the course of 2 days, at the Global Village, a diverse and vibrant hub for cultural exchange in Dubai. The Pink Caravan initiative was able to reach a wide and diverse audience, further enhancing its impact.Throughout the event, the DMCG Volunteers dedicated themselves to a wide array of activities, actively engaged with visitors, distributed informative brochures, effectively managed crowd flow, and skillfully captured the attention of visitors, drawing them into the Pink Caravan initiative. By actively participating in the Pink Caravan initiative, the volunteers played an essential role in ensuring a smooth event experience for attendees while engaging them with this important cause.
