SDG 07 – Affordable and Clean Energy 2025
DMU contributes to SDG 7 through how it runs its campus, what it teaches and what it researches. Its Sustainability Policy (F.6) commits the university to reducing energy consumption, and this is one of the five goals on DMU's sustainability goals page, alongside cutting single-use plastic, water and printing paper.
Energy on campus
Teaching, assessment and administration moved further onto digital platforms in 2025 — the QAIE portal for policies, appraisals and course files, ExamSoft and the LMS — reducing printing and the energy and paper it uses.
Campus transport: in 2025 DMU contracted two 30-seat coaches to carry students as a group rather than in private cars (QA Hub partnerships register).
QAIE note: DMU's metered electricity use for 2025 should be added here from the Facilities department; it is not held in QA Hub.
Teaching
Energy and climate are covered in Environmental Sustainability (ENS203) in the MD programme, Green and Sustainable Pharmacy (GE707) in the BPharm and the university-wide Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Sustainability (GER05), taken by MD and nursing students from 2025/26.
