SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities 2025
DMU contributes to SDG 11 by making its campus safe, accessible and open to the community, and by preparing its students to help Dubai respond to emergencies.
Campus living
Student hostel a five-minute walk from campus, with study halls, a gym, a shared kitchen, a mosque and open lawns, run under the Residential Life policy (E.3).
Shared coach transport for students, added in September 2025.
A campus greenhouse used for teaching — in October 2025 pharmacy students designed sustainable cosmetic products from plants grown there.
Resilient communities
SANID national emergency volunteer training (2–4 June 2025) (Link)
Nursing students and faculty trained in disaster preparedness, fire safety, search and rescue, triage, first aid and CPR through the UAE's national volunteer programme.

Dubai Police awareness lectures on drug prevention and e-crime for all new students (August 2025).
Community fitness: Dubai Run, the Nakheel Run and a month-long walking challenge in the Dubai Fitness Challenge.
Heritage: Haq Al Laila, UAE Flag Day and National Day celebrations open to students, staff and families.
Public access
DMU Hospital and the campus host free public events — breast cancer, diabetes and patient safety days in 2025 — and pharmacy students' sustainability roundtable at The SEE Institute (February 2025) explored a future partnership with the institute.
