Responsibilities
Lab Preparation & Support- Set up and prepare nursing labs and simulation environments for practical classes, assessments, and OSCEs in alignment with course syllabi.
- Ensure the functionality, cleanliness, and readiness of mannequins, task trainers, diagnostic tools, clinical models, and teaching aids prior to sessions.
- Assist faculty during laboratory and simulation sessions, including the demonstration of nursing procedures and setup of high- or low-fidelity clinical scenarios.
- Support the creation and setup of immersive simulation scenarios that reflect clinical practice and meet curriculum objectives.
- Assist students and instructors during practical and skill-development sessions, offering technical support as needed.
- Provide basic troubleshooting during sessions to resolve equipment or simulator issues in real-time.
Inventory & Maintenance
- Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date inventory of all lab equipment, teaching materials, and consumables.
- Monitor usage of consumables and coordinate timely replenishment to ensure continuity in training delivery.
- Conduct regular inspection, calibration, and preventive maintenance of simulators and lab equipment; maintain service logs and manuals.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for maintenance, servicing, and procurement of lab items, ensuring alignment with technical specifications and institutional procurement protocols.
- Assist in the preparation of technical specifications and participate in technical evaluations related to equipment purchasing.
- Follow up with the Finance Department on procurement requests, invoicing, and delivery status for equipment and materials.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all lab operations comply with institutional safety standards, health regulations, and infection control guidelines.
- Reinforce safety instructions with students and faculty and monitor adherence to lab rules and emergency protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment in all labs, including regular sanitation of equipment and surfaces.
- Contribute to the development and updating of laboratory safety procedures and standard operating protocols (SOPs).
- Maintain records related to equipment safety checks, compliance audits, and incident logs if applicable.
Academic Support
- Support faculty and clinical instructors in the preparation and execution of OSCEs, practical assessments, and skill competency evaluations.
- Aid in designing and assembling assessment stations based on curricular competencies and course outcomes.
- Support students during self-directed practice or remediation sessions.
- Assist in the development of lab manuals, demonstration guides, and setup instructions.
- Facilitate the integration of simulation technology and learning tools into practical sessions.
- Maintain accurate records of lab usage, student attendance, equipment loans, and skill checklist completion.
- Support accreditation and quality assurance processes by organizing documentation related to lab setup, usage statistics, safety protocols, and inventory records.
- Participate in departmental and college-wide meetings, technical training sessions, and professional development activities as assigned.
- Provide input and feedback on lab resource planning, scheduling, and student support strategies.
- Perform other lab-related duties assigned by the Program Chair or designated supervisor.
Qualifications & experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BScN) is mandatory.
- License: Must hold a valid nursing license (e.g., DHA, MOH, or DOH) or be eligible for one.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse; prior academic or simulation lab experience is an advantage.
